End Gowanda Hunger: July/August Combo Food & Reusable Bag Donations

Do you want to hear a corn joke? It’s sweet; but a bit corny!

We donated 62 dozen ears of sweet corn and 500 reusable bags to The Gowanda Food Pantry last week!

Both donations showcase different efforts in our End Gowanda Hunger initiative. First, the corn is a special July/August combo in the Targeted Food Donation Program. This program guarantees monthly donations of in-demand foods by donating 365 items annually. Special thank you to Meyer’s Homegrown, a family farm out of Boston, NY, for helping us ensure that our friends, family, & community always have food on the table!

Last week’s donation also continues our intent to sustain the pantry’s transition to eco-friendly bagging alternatives! We started the reusable bag effort last summer after our community was exposed to water pollution firsthand. The bags are phenomenal during food distribution, and we look forward to supplying more as the pantry moves into this year’s holiday season!

Reusable Bag Donation Count: 2,000

Program’s Food Donation Count in 2023: 243 Items
