End Gowanda Hunger: Fall 2023 Recap

We donated over 100 food items, 400 reusable bags, and 4 food drive containers to The Gowanda Food Pantry this busy fall season!

End Gowanda Hunger is our set initiative that offers annual support to the pantry & its wonderful staff of volunteers. Over the past three months, monthly food donations have continued to address specific food shortages. September saw 30 peanut butter & jelly pairs delivered straight to pantry shelves. Then, 31 sets of tuna 4-packs were donated in October. November’s chilling temperatures were subsequently met with 30 cans of Campbell’s Chunky ahead of Thanksgiving’s distribution.

Accompanying October’s tuna donation, we also restocked the pantry’s reusable bag count with an additional batch of 400! The bags are used during distributions to compile food assortments that assist our friends, family, & community in always having food on the table. This bag series has successfully sustained the pantry’s transition to green bagging alternatives!

Lastly, 4 food drive containers were donated as the pantry prepares for food drives in local businesses during the holidays. These bins will be available downtown shortly, so it’s a perfect time to clean out your kitchens! Remember, food donations must be unopened and not expired.

Reusable Bag Donation Count: 2,400

Program’s Food Donation Count in 2023: 334
