Gowanda Alive After 175 Celebration Weekend

We had a blast celebrating our village’s 175th anniversary with the community!

The rain, fortunately, held off for a Saturday full of special events. The day began with the time capsule ceremony at Chang Hu Park. Guest speakers praised Gowanda’s past, present, and future, then the community leaders buried the capsule ceremonially. We were thrilled to donate a time capsule to The Gowanda Chamber of Commerce for this event and look forward to the official burial later this year!

After wrapping up at Chang Hu, the focus shifted down Main Street for local vendors and food trucks. The Roaring 1920s were in full swing with the EHD Slushy Saloon! Delicious slushies were sold throughout the afternoon, with all proceeds benefiting future non-profit efforts. We also spent time passing out party favors & slap bracelets as families enjoyed the historic day together.

The highlight of the day by far was the grand old-fashioned parade! Sixty participants showcased decades’ worth of history and made it one for the ages. Along with one matching the slushy booth, we had two additional floats dedicated to our brave military service members. Special thanks to The Gowanda Moose for funding the parade candy for us! We also want to extend our appreciation to our volunteers, supporters, & sponsors that made everything possible!

Make sure to follow our page to not miss upcoming efforts this fall! Thank you kindly for your time, and we hope you have a great rest of your day!
