Gowanda, NY: Alive After 175!
We donated a time capsule to The Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce for our village’s 175th-anniversary celebration this August!
Gowanda is turning 175 years old next month, and you’re invited to attend the “Gowanda Alive After 175” celebration! This special event will be a weekend full of fun for everyone to enjoy on August 11th-13th. Featured activities include a cocktail soiree at the Historic Hollywood Theater Friday night, a grand old-fashioned parade through downtown Saturday afternoon, and fireworks at Hillis Field that same evening!
The chamber will also host a time capsule ceremony at Chang Hu Park on Saturday morning. Even though time never slows, a time capsule captures life at the moment. One will be buried this summer so that future generations can reflect on our community’s history, memories, & what life was like in 2023. We were thrilled to support this great idea by donating a steel cylinder capable of lasting until Gowanda’s 200th anniversary in 2048. Be sure to check it out that celebratory weekend!
