End Gowanda Hunger Initiative

An initiative catering to the needs and efforts of The Gowanda Food Pantry is underway. Our successful launch event that benefited the pantry back in December taught us many things. It showed us the positive impact we could have on the village but also the strong connection that took root between us & their staff. Today marks the blossoming of that connection through our second non-profit initiative: End Gowanda Hunger.

End Gowanda Hunger is our dedicated initiative, or strategy to improve the situation, for The Gowanda Food Pantry’s efforts to put food on local families’ tables. This strategy will assist residents in need by grouping all future donations, programs, and efforts to benefit the pantry’s operation & volunteer staff. We never start initiatives alone, and End Gowanda Hunger is no different. This initiative is launching with a shopping cart donation for use during food distributions.

Our outreach efforts quickly identified shopping carts as a top need for pantry staff. Food distributions are the focal point of volunteers as they prepare meal packages for over 100 local families and residents each month. Although, issues arise when it comes time to transfer food outside. The lack of mobile storage stressed the need for shopping carts immensely. However, they were hard to come by due to outrageous shipping costs. We pivoted as a result and turned to Facebook Marketplace. Finding a local supplier was required, but it was surprisingly tedious. After days of constant checking & refreshing, a listing from Cheektowaga was published. Our team arrived back in town with two shopping carts in tow only a few hours later. The carts were then donated a couple of weeks before the pantry’s food distribution in May.

Donation aside, we are simply speechless. We are grateful for the support we receive. We are thankful for people believing in our mission of giving back. However, we are mindful of the issues that still linger throughout the community. End Gowanda Hunger looks to combat one of the effects of financial woes within the local area, but non-profit efforts come with price tags. If you would like to support us, our donation page allows you to donate directly to End Gowanda Hunger. Donations may also be mailed to PO Box 44, Gowanda, NY 14070. We want to stress that it is not the size of the contribution that makes it impactful but rather the thought & generosity of the person behind the donation.

Above all, we are committed to helping the residents & families of this great community overcome the hardships they face daily. This donation of shopping carts merely sets the stage for many more efforts to follow. You can always stay updated with End Gowanda Hunger’s progress by following our social media and website blog. Thank you kindly for your time & we hope you have a great rest of your day!
